Project Rampart is transforming athletic facilities to provide inspiring, equitable places to play. In Baltimore, every public high school gymnasium that participates in interscholastic athletics has been renovated with branded floors, new wall padding, and refreshed equipment. In Oakland, several middle and high school gyms have been upgraded, helping fuel increases in sports offerings and participation rates across the district.
Under Armour provides every student-athlete and coach in Baltimore City High Schools with best-in-class uniforms and gear. In Oakland, Under Armour became the official outfitter of Oakland Unified School District high schools, instilling pride and unity citywide.
In partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), Project Rampart provides coaches and athletic directors with leadership and character-based training to better serve student-athletes. This training is provided for Baltimore City Public School coaches, with support from the Baltimore Ravens, as well as coaches from both Oakland Unified School District (OUSD) and Oakland Parks, Recreation & Youth Development (OPRYD). Plans are underway to extend this same model to Washington, DC.
In Baltimore City High Schools, the Student Athlete Leadership Council—developed with the Fund for Educational Excellence and the Travis Manion Foundation—brings together 70+ student-athletes each month for mentorship, growth, and leadership development. Building on this success, Oakland Unified School District will launch its Student Athlete Leadership Council in the ’25–’26 school year, with plans to expand the program to Washington, DC.
“SPORTS AND EXERCISE HAVE PLAYED SUCH AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN BOTH OF OUR LIVES, AS WELL AS OUR CHILDREN'S LIVES, AND WE’VE SEEN FIRSTHAND HOW ACCESS TO PLAY AND ATHLETICS CAN SHAPE A CHILD’S FUTURE.”
“Our goal with Eat. Learn. Play. has always been to give kids the tools they need to dream big and reach their full potential, and this is a major step toward making that a reality for every student in Oakland. We’re committed to making sure no student is left on the sidelines.”
