"Through This Together" Global Running Day Challenge

Under Armour Launches New 30-Day MapMyRun™ Challenge for Global Running Day and Encourages<br>Runners to Celebrate Those on the Front Lines of COVID-19 Efforts

With social distancing and stay-at-home orders in effect for much of the globe, it seems inevitable that Global Running Day will look different this year. Group runs, large events, and local races will be replaced with solo running, navigating roads and trails to stay at safe distances, and maybe even some virtual races with a digital leaderboard or personal avatar.

No matter the form it takes, Global Running Day is a chance to celebrate a sport that has provided a healthy pursuit to so many of us around the world, and an outlet for the mind and body during these challenging times.

Today, Under Armour is launching the Through This Together Challenge, a new 30-day MapMyRun challenge in celebration of Global Running Day. Runners can join the challenge from May 4 to June 3, 2020, to work towards a personal goal of 30 miles in 30 days—an accomplishment worthy of celebration on Global Running Day. And while we may all be running solo this year, we’re not alone with the global community of runners on MapMyRun who will be running for a collective goal of 3 million miles.

Runners who reach their personal goal of running 30 miles in 30 days will be entered in a random drawing, where 100 winners will receive 2 pairs of UA HOVR™ Machina shoes: one for themselves and one for someone who inspires them during this time. Whether it’s a friend, a family member, or a frontline worker, they’ll be running for a chance to say thank you while we all get Through This Together.

“There has been an unprecedented surge in both new users to the MapMyRun platform and total workouts logged since social distancing and stay-at-home orders were put in place. We’ve seen our biggest day of total workouts logged so this challenge is a way for us to both celebrate the sport with our seasoned runners and also welcome our new users to the MapMyRun community”

Ben McAllister, Sr Director of Product for MapMyRun
