Bryce Harper Pays Tribute on Jackie Robinson Day with UCLA-Inspired Colorway of UA Harper 3

One of the most important days of every baseball season falls on April 15, when players and organizations around the league pay tribute to the most influential person to ever step foot on the diamond – Jackie Robinson. On this date in 1947, the future Hall of Famer broke the baseball color barrier, forever changing the game and inspiring people of all walks of life to dream of playing on the sport’s biggest stage.

To pay tribute to this iconic figure, Under Armour worked with Bryce Harper to create a UCLA-inspired colorway of the UA Harper 3 – a nod to Robinson’s unparalleled collegiate career, as he lettered in baseball, track and field, football and basketball for the Bruins. He remains the only UCLA athlete to letter in four sports, with the highlight of his career in Southern California coming at the 1940 NCAA championships when he won the long jump event.

“Everything Jackie has done for the sport of baseball - and more importantly our culture - impacts everyone, every day...from UCLA, to the Army, to baseball and beyond, his fearlessness and willingness to stand for what’s right will always be remembered.”

The colorway features the iconic blue and gold that are synonymous with UCLA. The translucent cleat plate includes Robinson’s collegiate number, 28, as well as the iconic number 42 that he made famous on the diamond, which has been retired by every team in the league. Finally, the sock liner honors Robinson’s achievement of being the first Bruin to letter in four sports, as well as a replica of his autograph.

This pair was designed exclusively for Bryce, but the UA Harper 3 is available for everyone who plays the game on UA.com, at Under Armour Brand Houses and at select retail partners.
