Under Armour's FC Barcelona Stars Rise to the Pressure of Tradition Ahead of El Clásico

Ahead of the season’s most high-stakes fixture, El Clásico, Under Armour and FC Barcelona’s rising stars Fermín López and Marc Casadó stepped away from the pitch and into the heart of Catalonia’s most powerful tradition: the Castell.

Joining forces with the Arreplegats de la Zona Universitària in Barcelona, the La Masia graduates helped construct a seven-story human tower. In doing so, they took part in a physical display of the expectations that come with representing Catalonia’s greatest sporting institution.

The Castell has stood for over two centuries as a symbol of collective strength, courage, and the unyielding spirit of Catalan identity. By stepping into the tower on the eve of El Clásico, Fermín and Marc channelled that same spirit required to face La Liga title rivals Real Madrid.

Every Castell is built from the ground up. The Pinya, the dense mass of bodies at the base, provides the foundation that allows others to reach the summit. It is a place of no individual glory and as part of a new generation of talent, Fermín and Marc understand this foundation better than anyone.

"The pressure is real, but it is shared. The people at the bottom carry those at the top. That has been my reality from La Masia to the first team. Football is a collective effort, much like being a Casteller. Success is entirely dependent on unity, trust, and the strength of the person standing next to you."

Marc, who grew up in the village of Sant Pere de Vilamajor, just outside of Barcelona, added:

"In Catalonia, pressure isn't something to fear, it's a privilege. There is no greater honour than carrying the hopes of this club. Being among the Castellers was a reminder that our strength comes from our roots and our dedication to each other. It’s that same unity we take into El Clásico.”

As Under Armour athletes, Fermín and Marc will go into El Clásico alongside FC Barcelona teammate, Ferran Torres, wearing UA’s most advanced boot – the new Shadow Elite 4. Built for explosiveness and maximum separation, the boot features a soft, cushioned grounding that allows players to turn pressure into performance.
