For thousands of Baltimore City high school students, Project Rampart is proving what happens when young people are given the opportunity, resources, and support to compete through sport. The program, which first began in 2017, expands access to sports while providing mentorship—helping student-athletes succeed on and off the field.

The results speak volumes: in 2026, participants in Under Armour's Project Rampart initiative achieved a record cumulative GPA of 3.01 - far exceeding the 2.18 average among non-athletes across Baltimore City High Schools. The program also recorded a 97.5% graduation rate and an 87.7% attendance rate, both more than a dozen percentage points higher than citywide averages.

These numbers represent some of the strongest outcomes in the program's history and reinforce the truth the program continues to prove: when students have access to sports, they show up, stay engaged, and ultimately succeed.

In Baltimore, Under Armour's Project Rampart program supports 23 of the city's total 40 public high schools and reaches 414 individual teams annually, providing uniforms to all participating city teams, ensuring over 4,000 student-athletes have the equipment and resources they need to compete

Under Armour celebrated these achievements on June 6, 2026 as more than 800 Baltimore City student-athletes gathered at the brand’s global headquarters for the annual Project Rampart Student-Athlete Celebration.

As part of the event, Under Armour partnered with MedStar Health and Baltimore City Public Schools to provide hundreds of free sports physicals, athletic equipment, health resources, and guidance to help students prepare for the upcoming school year

"These numbers tell a powerful story, sports do so much more than build athletes. They build confidence, accountability, leadership, and community. When we remove barriers to participation, we give young people the opportunity to thrive in the classroom, on the field, and in life. No student should miss the chance to play because they can't access the resources they need to get started."

"Project Rampart and Under Armour helped me grow as a student, an athlete, and as a person, this team has been in my corner every step of the way. Their support and encouragement have made a lasting impact not only on me, but on so many students across my school."

What began in Baltimore has grown into a broader model for expanding sports access, with Project Rampart now supporting thousands of student-athletes in Oakland, California, and expanding its reach to schools in Washington, D.C. Collectively, more than 50,000 student-athletes have been served across all three communities.

Looking ahead, Under Armour will continue investing in year-round programming, leadership development opportunities, and competitive experiences, including hosting weekly fall games for flag football, soccer, football, lacrosse, and a spring track invitational.
