Cale Makar Wins Silver With Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Games
Under Armour athlete Cale Makar has added another milestone to his already remarkable career, capturing a silver Olympic medal at the 2026 Winter Games in Milan-Cortina and delivering a standout performance on hockey’s biggest international stage.
These games already marked a big moment for men’s ice hockey, with NHL players eligible to compete for the first time since 2014, and Makar made sure to rise to the occasion. Throughout the tournament, he showcased elite skating, hockey IQ, and composure under pressure, logging heavy minutes against top international competition and making a consistent impact at both ends of the ice.
Makar finished the tournament with 6 points, opening the tournament by assisting on the Macklin Celebrini tip-in, to put Canada on the board for the first time in the tournament against Czechia. In the semi-final against Finland, he led the come-back as his shot was tipped in by Sam Reinhart. Makar’s first goal came in Canada’s 10-2 win over France and he finished strong by scoring Canada’s only goal in the loss to the US in the gold medal game.
“Representing your country at the Olympics is something you dream about as a kid.”
“We came up short of the gold, but to come home with any medal is incredibly special. It’s a testament to the group we had and the work everyone put in.”

Already a Calder, Norris, and Conn Smythe Trophy winner before the age of 25, Makar continues to define what it means to be a generational talent with this latest achievement. Despite his new Olympic hardware, it is his humility and relentless focus on improvement that keeps him driving towards what’s next. “There’s always another level to chase,” he says. “That’s what keeps pushing you forward.”
From NHL success to Olympic achievement, Cale Makar continues to inspire the next generation of athletes, proving that the pursuit of excellence never stops.
