Joel Embiid was discovered in Cameroon.
He trained in Monteverde.
But, he came into his own in Kansas.
When Joel arrived in the midwest, he anticipated a redshirt Freshman season. Fresh off an impressive high school career, he was still learning and growing. But, he became an early starter, one who would go on to average 11.2 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks and receive nods as a Naismith College Player of the Year finalist and Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year.
While short, his time in Lawrence, KS was clearly a pivotal phase in Joel’s process. In one season, he proved himself a force across all phases, helping lead his team to the NCAA Tournament and breaking some individual school records along the way.
So, it’s no surprise that his signature shoe’s next colorway is the UA Embiid One Lawrence, the namesake of where he found early success.
The latest colorway is a vibrant tribute to this significant chapter of Joel's story. Its light-weight mesh upper and outsole pop with crimson and blue. The shoe’s tongue and heel tab also stand out, highlighted in the iconic blue. The latter includes a 21, Joel’s collegiate number.
