ICYMI - Stephen Curry made basketball history Sunday night, exploding into 2021 with unmatched energy and gusto.
Fueled by both passion and purpose, he went 18-for-31 from the field, 8-for-16 from behind the arc and a near perfect 18-of-19 from the free throw line. That’s a career-high 62 points to go along with five boards, four assists and a crucial win.
According to Elias Sports Bureau, it marked the first time a player has scored at least 30 points in each half of a game since 2005. And, almost as if he planned it, Curry split his total evenly between the two halves. It was also the 27th time in his career he had knotted at least 20 in a quarter, scoring 22 in the first. (As if we needed the reminder of what Stephen is capable of.)
It only took 36 minutes for the six-time All-Star, three-time NBA Champion and two-time NBA MVP to refresh our collective memory, just a few games into his return campaign and his first season wearing the Curry Flow 8.
Stephen commemorated the moment by gifting 62 pairs of the Curry 8 "Flow Like Water" colorway to 62 stand-out student-athletes in Oakland Unified School District, passing it forward to the next generation of athletes who will change the game for good.
We first introduced you to Stephen’s eighth signature shoe and its new UA Flow technology ahead of last month’s tip-off. It is UA Basketball’s highest performance ground-contact cushioning technology to-date, bringing lightweight cushioning and pioneering traction to Under Armour’s performance footwear product.
It’s the type of thing that takes 13 rounds of weartesting and 10 rounds of biomechanical testing to develop.
It’s the type of thing that can turn 54 points into 62.
What is sure to be dubbed the '62 point shoe', the Curry 8 "Flow Like Water" colorway is set to release on January 22.
