Curry Camp Convenes Basketball's Best in the Bay Area

Stephen Curry, Curry Brand and Under Armour host 8th annual elite training camp for the future generation of hoopers

Over the weekend, Stephen Curry headed to the courts at Menlo Park to put on his annual elite hands-on training, giving youth hoopers the opportunity of a lifetime to learn from and play alongside the three-point king himself. Grounded in a joint mission to change the game for good, Curry Camp is one of the many ways that Stephen, Curry Brand, and Under Armour support the future generation of athletes and give back to the sport of basketball throughout the year.

Curry Camp is known for hosting some of the nation’s top basketball prospects. Each of the 13 boys and 14 girls from across the U.S. was personally hand-picked by Stephen to participate in this immersive training experience. These participants received world-class knowledge, skill development, and 1:1 coaching and mentoring on and off the court from Stephen, alongside a prestigious roster of coaches and trainers.  With the help of JPMorgan Chase, the athletes also left the weekend with an invaluable set of off court skills to help them navigate marketing opportunities as they take the next steps in their careers.

Starting early Friday, the group kicked off their first of four on-court sessions for the weekend, where their grit and perseverance were put to the test, while they received exclusive coaching and tips from Stephen and his personal coach, Brandon Payne, on how to take their game up a notch. Following an intense day of workouts, the group headed to a tech companies headquarters where they toured the campus and were gifted a custom pair of Curry Brand headphones that were uniquely designed to feature Stephen’s logo and treated to a screening of Stephen’s newly released documentary, Stephen Curry: Underrated, which documents Stephen’s rise from an underestimated college player to a two-time MVP and four-time champion.

On Saturday, these athletes were back to the grind, competing against one another in their final two rounds of practice sessions, where they were given one last shot at putting their skills to the test. Shortly after, they engaged in an off-court education session as well as a community impact moment within the Menlo Park community, experiencing firsthand the true benefits of serving as mentors to underserved youth. Later that evening the group celebrated by letting loose at Top Golf where they were able to enjoy a fun and relaxing evening deepening their relationships while engaging in yet another one of Stephen’s passions.

The weekend culminated on Sunday with an award ceremony where the male and female MVPs each received a custom personally branded jersey, signed by Stephen Curry himself, along with a limited-edition pair of Curry Flows 9’s that were released in a small quantity back in 2022. All 27 athletes blew everyone away with their next level skill, but Ace Bailey, Dylan Harper, Lanie Grant and Jaloni Cambridge put up particularly impressive numbers throughout the weekend, earning the well-deserved title of Camp All-Stars.

Off the Court Impact

To connect on-court instruction with off-court education, Under Armour and Curry Brand, in partnership with JPMorgan Chase, hosted a financial literacy session that provided a baseline foundation for the athletes as they start to entertain future NIL deals and additional marketing opportunities. With 60-65% of professional players going bankrupt within the first five years of departing the league, Stephen, Curry Brand, and Under Armour made it a priority to ensure these young athletes were well-suited for financial success as they prepare for the big leagues.

“The women and men at Curry Camp are showing up with elite-level talent and skill, but what I hope to instill again this year are the tools that support them on and off the court – a commitment to impact our shared communities, teamwork in and out of the locker room, celebrating each and every day and having a fierce love for the game.”

In the spirit of extending the impact of Curry Camp beyond the court, the financial literacy session was followed up by a community clinic with middle schoolers from Stephen’s adopted hometown of Oakland. The group was outfitted in Under Armour and Curry Brand gear from head to toe before jumping on the court at Menlo Park to participate in a series of drills and contests with Stephen, Curry Camp athletes, and the elite coaching staff.

Curry Camp first started in 2014 as Stephen’s SC30 Select Camp and was created with the intention of giving back to the future generation of basketball stars. When Curry Brand launched in 2020 with the goal of changing the game for good, Curry Camp evolved into what it is today, playing a significant role in Stephen’s journey to make an impact in the communities that have shaped him into the person and athlete that he is today. Although this is a pinnacle event within Curry Brand - their purpose is a consistent piece of their success. The brand - through a focus on coaches, programming and safe places to play - has impacted over 70,000 youth drawing itself closer to the goal of 100,000 by 2025.
