2019 NBA All-Star Jr NBA

A Star-Studded Day

Under Armour and NBA Pull out All the Stops for Jr. NBA Day in Charlotte

On Friday, 1,500 kids from the greater Charlotte community arrived at the Charlotte Convention Center. They knew they were there to play some basketball, go through drills and learn a few new tricks. And they knew this was all going down as part of the NBA and Under Armour’s Jr. NBA Day, so something was bound to happen.

What they didn’t expect was a parade of some of the best basketball players on the planet, courtesy of Under Armour. Over the course of the afternoon, superstars like Stephen Curry and Joel Embiid, along with human highlight reels Dennis Smith Jr. and Hamidou Diallo, ran kids through a number of drills and lessons on the court, including weave, two man drills, fastbreaks, shooting form, etc.

The opportunity to connect with some of the best and brightest in the league was not lost on the Charlotte kids - while awestruck, they did their drills, put in the effort and learned how to be better basketball players. As part of the NBA’s day of service, the Jr. NBA Day was an opportunity for athletes to get out into the community and connect with kids from every walk of of life.

The Jr. NBA, presented by Under Armour, is the league's youth basketball participation program that provides a fun environment for kids to learn the fundamentals and values of the game. The Jr. NBA is focused on helping grow and improve the youth basketball experience for players, coaches and parents, and offers a free curriculum covering all levels of the game that includes 48 practice plans and more than 250 instructional videos featuring NBA and WNBA players.
