UA IS OUTFITTING YOUNG ATHLETES TO CRUSH THE LIMITS

Under Armour introduces its largest outerwear collection for kids

School is in session and winter will soon be nipping at our toes, which means kids need to be prepared with the best outerwear to combat any element and look the part.

Under Armour is launching its most expansive Youth outerwear collection this fall/winter, offering more than 40 styles. Designed with kids, for kids, the line offers a variety of comfortable, durable and performance-driven styles for children ranging in sizes Toddler to Youth XL.

While developing the collection, designers asked for feedback from young athletes in order to better understand the performance needs of their outerwear. The result? A collection of jackets that will keep kids warm in every environment and at the top of their game.

This youth outerwear collection is Under Armour’s most technically advanced, with jackets that are lightweight yet warm, and include key feature benefits such as multi-function pockets and stretch for mobility. Every piece in this outerwear collection holds up to the innovation and technology athletes expect from Under Armour. Key technologies include UA Coldgear to keep kids warm, dry and light; UA Storm to repel water without sacrificing breathability; and the UA UGrow System to allow sleeves to extend an extra two inches so the jacket can last more than one season as kids' bodies are growing.

The new Youth outerwear ranges from $55 - $155 USD and will be available at Under Armour Brand Houses across the US, China and Canada, and at UA.com, UA.cn (China), and UA.ca (Canada) beginning September 2018.

Under Armour turned to a crew of up-and-coming young athletes to help introduce the collection, including: football standout Bunchie Young; figure skater Audrey Shin; free-skier Troy Podmilsak; soccer star Chloe Shimkin; International Youth Boxing Champion Jesse Mehler; and nationally-ranked twin snowboarders, Devin and Barrett Hendrix.

Meet the next generation of athletes:

Maxwell “Bunchie” Young

Track and Field, Football

He’s only 11 years old, but Maxwell “Bunchie” Young has already accomplished more on the field than most people twice his age. Two years ago, the Los Angeles native beat the 10-year-old record in the 100 meter sprint at the Region 15 Junior Olympics Track & Field Championships, and followed that up by winning the 200 meter sprint. Bunchie’s dreams go beyond the track, though; he’s also a star on the gridiron. Before reaching middle school, Bunchie had received scholarship offers from Division 1 collegiate football programs. What makes this young athlete stand out is not only his stats and trophies, but the size of his dreams. Bunchie hopes to not only become the youngest Olympic gold medalist, he also wants to fund a cancer research foundation and serve as the Mayor of Los Angeles.

If Bunchie isn’t constantly working and training, he knows someone else is going to come up and beat him. The North Rim Microfleece is light and warm, allowing him to keep pushing as Football practice takes him into the cool late evenings. His personality is electric, just like his hair color and some of the cool features on the UA Day Trekker.  He can go right from school to the field with its lightweight insulation, color-pop details and stretchy fleece sleeves.

Devin and Barrett Hendrix

Snowboarding

Devin & Barrett Hendrix are on-mountain twin-turbos ranking among the top 10 female snowboarders in the nation. They’ve attended the Vail Ski and Snowboard School and have greatness in their destiny as they follow in the footsteps of famous graduates like UA athlete Lindsey Vonn. Relaxing for these two means hitting the skate park or long-boarding down the mountain trail with friends.

Shredding is life and the UA Rocky Pine and UA Print Max Altitude jackets are super warm and have all the cool features to keep Devin and Barrett on the mountain from first chair to last run. Each jacket is 100% waterproof, packed with tons of pockets for ski passes, goggles, and more and features hand warmer cuffs, a powder skirt and UA UGrow technology that adds two inches to sleeves.

Audrey Shin

Figure Skating

14-year-old Meet Audrey Shin is chasing her dreams across North America and the globe for on-ice greatness. She will compete in the 2018 Junior National Championships and has her sights set on Beijing 2022. Her grace and beauty coupled with a fierce attitude to perform, make her a force to be reckoned with. Audrey spends multiple hours at the rink each day, some days starting before the sun rises. Her go-to is the UA Reversible Bomber to change her look throughout the day. The quilted insulation provides optimal warmth and is perfect for on-ice training while the cozy fabric is stylish and functional for off-ice stretching and conditioning. When she’s not practicing, you can find Audrey in the lightweight UA Canyon Rim Microfleece racing against her sister.

Troy Podmilsak

Free-skiing

Troy Podmilsak, better known on the slopes as “T-Pod,” travels the globe challenging gravity with the wildest tricks and rivals competitors nearly twice his age. The 13 year old holds multiple world-records for his nerve-racking stunts and is the youngest person to complete a Triple Cork 1440. His unique flare in the air is unparalleled and sees Beijing 2022 in his future.

From Mammoth to the mountains of New Zealand, Troy needs gear that can go the distance. The UA Decatur jacket and UA Rooter ski pants are lightweight and move with him as he flips through the air, and is made of waterproof and windproof materials. The performance attributes of these styles allow Troy to keep hitting the jumps even on the most-blustery winter days. Troy also takes his tricks off the mountain and the cozy fleece lining of the UA Zumatrek stands up to the elements as he performs Parkour with his friends.

Chloe Shimkin

Soccer

Chloe Shimkin understands the true meaning of team. She was recruited and played for the National Premier League-Northeast Girls Division and one day dreams of playing on the U.S. Women’s National team. In order for Chloe to stay in training mode, she needs gear that adapts to all elements. The UA Prime Puffer is light enough that she can move around freely on the pitch; while also providing the necessary warmth and repels rain so that she can stay dry for extended training sessions. Off the pitch, she enjoys cooking and competing with her friends to see who can make the best dish. For moments like these, the UA Laila is the perfect alternative to her fierce soccer spirit. She looks for gear that keeps her warm while staying on trend and in style.

Jesse Mehler

Boxing

Meet Jesse Mehler; from the depths of New York’s gritty boxing scene, he competes worldwide and goes by the name “The Chosen One”.  At 14, when he’s not training or conditioning, he is analyzing and diversifying his investment portfolio. He has big plans to dominate in the ring before he heads on to conquer Wall Street.

Jesse changes up his training environment on a nearly daily basis. On conditioning days you’ll see him in the UA Pronto Puffer running around the Central Park Reservoir. Jesse loves to express his individuality and stand out from the crowd. The bold color options available in the UA Pronto Puffer Jacket does just that, while keeping him warm to hit his training goals. To complement his cross-training, Jesse takes his shadowboxing outdoors to further push himself and grind against the elements. The lightweight flexibility of the UA DayTrekker allows Jesse to move swiftly and doesn’t hold him back from getting maximum velocity on his punches.
