Under Armour Athletes Crank Up the Heat for the 2021-2022 NBA Playoffs

Across every sport, Under Armour athletes never fail to break boundaries and push limits, and our NBA athletes are no exception. Throughout the 2021-2022 season, each have put their grit, perseverance, and commitment to the sport on full display. With the NBA playoffs kicking off this month, Under Armour has yet another thing to celebrate alongside our athletes: all of our NBA stars – Stephen Curry, Joel Embiid, Nah’Shon “Bones” Hyland, Patty Mills, Seth Curry, Will Barton and Damion Lee – have made it to the first round.

“I am always amazed by the sheer grit and determination of our UA athletes, and this NBA season is proof of that,” said Sean Eggert, SVP, Global Sports Marketing at Under Armour. “All of our NBA athletes have all shown up in their own way for their teams, their fans and themselves this season, and UA could not be prouder of each of them.”

This season marks the NBA’s 75th anniversary, a milestone year that has brought with it achievements of equal magnitude. With playoffs now in full swing, Under Armour is celebrating these highlights from our NBA roster.

  • A veteran of the Denver Nuggets, Will Barton, is second on the team in minutes played this season, averaging 32 minutes per game. Barton is a go-to man for the Nuggets, showing his leadership and confidence on and off the court. Barton's hometown of Baltimore will be cheering him on during this playoff run.

  • Tipping the season off with Embiid, Seth Curry is now ending the season as teammates with Patty Mills on the Nets. Before leaving the 76ers, Seth was able to take over the record of all-time three-point percentage for the franchise. Making his own name in the NBA, Seth is finishing out his seventh season strong, showing no matter what team, he's all in and bringing his best.

  • Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has had a remarkable year, starting off the season strong as he passed Ray Allen for the most 3-pointers in NBA history in December. Curry was also named to the NBA 75th Anniversary team, which was celebrated during the NBA All-Star game in Cleveland where Curry fittingly took home a win and was named All-Star MVP for his record performance.

  • Philadelphia Sixers center Joel Embiid’s phenomenal performance this season has landed him in the running for the race for 2021-2022 NBA MVP – for the second year in a row. Embiid had a dominant season with thirteen 40+ point games, helping his claim the NBA scoring title for the first time in his career. Accompanied by a winning mindset and a career-high average of 30.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.5 blocks per game, Embiid is our MVP of the season!

  • Denver Nuggets rookie Bones Hyland, who was drafted as the 26th pick in the 2021 draft out of VCU, has had a promising start to his NBA career and a strong playoff debut with 10 points against the Golden State Warriors on Monday. Not to mention, his swagger and fearlessness on the court has caught the attention of NBA fans near and far.

  • Shooting guard for the Golden State Warriors, Damion Lee is a man who can do a little bit of everything. Lee, the brother-in-law to the NBA three-point record holder, has been solid on defense this season. Lee has averaged just over 20 minutes per game for the Warriors these past four years and should be a great asset to them this playoff series.

  • A move to the Brooklyn Nets has paid off for Patty Mills this year. The 13-year NBA veteran hit stellar numbers this season, playing with a contagious energy as one of the best volume shooters in basketball. Outside of playoffs, the Nets guard announced earlier this month details around the inaugural National Indigenous Basketball Tournament, which provides opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth who share his passion for basketball.

All eyes are on these NBA stars as they take to the court for the next round of the playoffs. Despite the challenges that each have faced this season—from unexpected injuries to hard losses—all six have remained steadfast and focused when it comes to their growth, achieving their goals and journey to compete.
